Dr. Magistà is a mycologist and food biotechnologist. His research interests include the application of beneficial fungal species in food production, the evaluation of potential fungal biocontrol agents, and the reduction of mycotoxins and unwanted fungal species in food products. He is interested in morphological, biochemical and molecular characterization, phylogenetic and population analysis, gene expression quantification, comparative genomics of filamentous fungi.
